[NTLK] Calling eMate hardware experts

Hello,

I decided to keep my dead eMate (see "eMate does not power up" thread) and
disassembled the unit completely. Moterboard seems clean, nothing burned or
damaged. Display cable is also intact. Cosmetically everithing looks great,
but it still does not power up :-) I still want to try to fix the unit and
have a few questions which might help me with fixing:

How power LED functions? Does it light when eMate lid is closed and runs on
AC power? Is it controlled by some logic inside the unit or it just lights
up as soon as the power applied?

If eMate thinks that it's lid is closed, will it respond to reset button?
Will the charge LED light? I suspect that maybe a button which senses lid
position is damaged, and eMate thinks that it always closed.

What typicalli burns on the motherboard when incorrect voltage is applied
to the unit (as with bad/cheap AC adapter)?

Should the eMate turn on without the battery but with applied AC power? Or
battery is necessary for unit to function?

Maybe some other hints about what I should check and measure at the
motherboard?
I have a lot of testing/soldering equipment at work (and also much better
specialists in all this stuff than me), so I may try to fix the unit there.

Hoping for your help
