Do not underestimate the damage that sunlight does. It is very interesting
to get two identical items and leave one in the sun for an hour, and one
indoors and then compare the permanent colour change (eg unprimed/coated
timber).
It is very surprising. Bear in mind that here in New Zealand it only takes
13 minutes to get sunburnt in summer.
So imagine using your newton for half an hour outside. Or the cumulative
hours of damage that would occur over 12 months. Unlike skin, it doesnt
eal - just degrades at a certain rate. So X amount of hours may be all that
it can take of sunlight before backlight takes a pounding.

Truth is, if you are operating in an environment where the
UV levels are high enough to have an effect, either the timer
is stuck on your sunbed or the Sun has just gone nova. ;}
