Question for our 'electricians'

If an eMate keeps losing it's printer settings, could that be related to
something electrical ?

I have somebody asking this question and wondering if an eMate has a backup
battery, I know it hasn't, but could there be another reason why it would
loose the settings all of the time ?

(otherwise I'll advice her a brain wipe and restore without system settings)
