I agree about zapping the PRAM. You can also use a keyboard command (I think
it is to simultaneously hold down Command, Option, P, and R). Keep holding
those keys down and let the computer restart several times. It should make
the startup chime each time. I read that you should let it cycle 3 or 4
timeson some machines. Sorry about the vague response, but I don't have ANY
of my Mac references at the moment, and I'm too lazy to look it up on the
Apple web site.
If that doesn't work, you can place a system CD in the drive and you should
be able to boot from it by holding down the C key. I believe there is an HD
repair utility on the CD that you can use to scan the bus and mount the
drivemanually.
