I've travelled recently with my PowerBook, Newton, digital still
camera, digital video camera, cables, etc. in my "geek bag" and never
had any inkling of trouble. It goes through the X-ray, sometimes I'm
asked to turn one (or more) on, and that's it. Go for it.
Only warning: a fool and his bag are sometimes parted by a twosome,
so the foremost one can take your bag and dissapear. Be mindful of
this.
