    Well, ever since the first newton, the eject buttons have had some
kind of lock. That lock serves the OS as a signal that the user wants to
remove the card and start the deinstallation process.

    In the MP2x00, this lock is integrated in the push button. A
engineering marvel, as it wont launch that signal if no card is inserted.

    It's interesting, open the extras drawer, and push the eject button of
a memory card only once, so that the card is still inserted but the button
is out. If you have some apps installed on that card, you'll see them
dissapear.

    I don't know how the newton likes the user taking the cards out without
that signal.
