I took my 2100 stylus to a fine (not *fine*, but 'fine') metal file last
night, pressing lightly and spinning the stylus as I pulled it across the
file, gently--barely grinding away at the outer layer of plastic and spooge
which had embedded itself into the plastic.
Next, I wiped the tip clean with...well, my fingers.
Then to a plain piece of paper to polish it up for about 20 seconds,
pulling, rotating, and tilting to get the entire surface polished. This
second part I did with much harder pressure than the first part with the
file.
It works wonderfully now! I looked at the tip before and after with a 30x
magnifyer and there's almost no impurities or irregularities in the tip
anymore.
