Well, Dave Humphrey's saying that he wasn't going to make any more
SER001's after he sold his last remaining 30, spurred me into buying
one.
I must say, it was a super easy transaction, I paid via Paypal and his
web page, and the kit showed up here in Seattle two days later.
Today I installed it, which is fairly easy, as long as you are not too
heavy handed taking the back off the MP, it's really simple.
I had a slight problem with the case not seeming tight at the corner
where the stylus goes in, and Dave immediately emailed me with a great
description:
"Press the area between the stylus and the SER-001 connector while
gently
pressing the two case halves together. You should feel a snap and get it
seated better."
This worked flawlessly, and I now am happy to report the dongle-less
MP2000u is a mighty fine thing indeed.
Marty
PS I Guess 42 dollars seems like a lot to someone who bought a MP2100
on ebay for under $100. But to me it's easily worth it. I won't have
any more bad dreams about losing the Dongle...
