Yes, it's possible. Here are the system requirements:

* Newton OS 2.x
* NIE (Newton Internet Enabler) 1.1 or later
* Up to 32K free heap
* A static IP is suggested but not required
* Approximately 256 K of RAM
* All components of NPDS should be on the same store

Unfortunately, the site containing the documentation for setting up NPDS
is offline at the moment (Matt's free iTools account got yanked). So
until the pages reappear on the NPDS development site, you can access
them through the archive.org:
