First the power adapter shall provide two modes:
constant voltage of max. 7.5 V up to a current of 1.2 Amps
constant current or current fold back above 1.2 Amps.
I currently think about a little project to build an universal adapter
myself with that you will be able to connect to any dc source up to 24 V.
What I did in the past was to use a laboratory power supply with the right
settings for voltage and current.
