I do not know Newt's Battery from VisualNewt,
but the meaning of the readings is probably comparable to other programs.

LOW is a setting where the Newt generates a Battery low warning message when
the defined level is reached.

DEAD is probably a level where the Newt switches off and/or won't switch on
again.

You can easily check the meaning of CURRENT. There are two possibilities:
either it is the charging current or it is the discharging current.
If you unplug the ac adapter and a Current is displayed - it is the battery
discharging current or in other words the actual current drawn from your
Newt.
Otherwise it is the charging current. But since you had the ac adaptor
connected while reading the displayed values, I assume it is the discharge
current.

Does this program not provide an indication for the charging mode
(normal/fast/trickle)?
