While I'm not that compulsive about wiping off my screen, I have a reflex of
wiping the stylus tip on my shirt fairly often. I also (sometimes) wipe the
screen when I first open the Newt (mine's a 130) for the day. After about a
year and a half, my perfect screen is still perfect.
Having said that, if your environment is such that you're repeatedly getting
grit of some sort, then a screen protector is obviously a good investment.
Personally, I get nothing more than the usual airborne dust that one might
see floating in a sunbeam.
