On the MP2x00, DRAM (dynamic RAM) is memory for work, not for storage. There is 1 MB (MP2000. eMate 300) or 4 MB (MP2100, upgraded units).
It us divided in parts, some are heaps, one of these heaps is the NewtonScript Heap; but whatever the division is, everything is used (unless you don't have the required system patch on 4 MB units). The whole MB (or 4 MB) is used, don't worry.
Storage is handled by 4 MB of Flash which indeed you can call Flash RAM although it's somewhat confusing (RAM loses data when unpowered, Flash doesn't).
