What a FABULOUS post! You don't get this kind of tech tip everyday -- even
here.
I was sent a 2100 with a dead battery too, but after using your technique I
got it charging. Don't know how long it will last, but it seems fine. It
must have sat around too long.
I have a low level car battery charger which puts out 6 volts at 6 amps, as
well as 12v. Took two tries at 6v. First one, touching contacts a couple of
seconds, got a 3/4 charge on the Newton battery scale when battery was
inserted, which dropped to zero in a few seconds and a "waiting" message.
Second try I zapped for over 10 seconds and got a full battery signal on the
Newton, after which it began a regular charging cycle.
