This is a definite advantage. But couldn't a client/server application
impliment this as an Application-layer protocol? i.e., send IP broadcast
packets on the local subnet advertising availability of the service and the
IP/port# on a regular basis while the server is running. Then the client
listens to the broadcast packets and configures itself?
