Thank you so much. I am not sure how I missed this in the FAQ -- I went
to each page and searched for "reboot" and came up empty.
It is amazing how quickly I have forgotten some of these little things,
though. I used to do this every couple of months, but since I've not had
a computer to back up to or load packages, I just didn't do it. Now that
I've found an old Pentium that has a working serial port, I'm backing
everything up and cleaning house.
One thing that really struck me was how cumbersome the whole backup
process is. My 2100 only has two 4 meg cards in it, but even so it won't
back up the whole thing. I have to 1) back up with one card in, 2) copy
the two backups to another folder, 3) backup with the other card in, 4)
copy the other card's backup into that other folder, and then I have a
complete backup. I can only imagine what an interesting experience it
must be backing up one of those big cards!
Just on a humorous note, I was in a meeting with one of the pastors from
my church yesterday and he commented on the fact that I am always taking
notes on the sermon on my Newton. He uses a Palm and he couldn't believe
that I could be doing a complete outline etc. in normal handwriting on a
handheld. I flipped over to Notes and pulled up the outline I'd done of
last Sunday's sermon, complete with Bible passages copied out of The
Message pasted in everywhere. He just stared and then started to laugh.
"I thought maybe you were just playing Solitaire!" he said. I grinned
and tapped a button, and sure enough, Solitaire appeared on the screen.
"I DO play Solitaire sometimes," I replied. He kind of looked at me and
I added quickly, "But never when YOU'RE preaching..."
Thanks again for the help. It sure is good to be back.
