I believe you've hit the proverbial nail right on your thumb. Newt packages
that require registration are keyed off your unique identification info as
stored on your Newt. So someone could sell you a copy, but it would be
useless.

Actually, it's worse than that... If someone has a major problem with their
Newt and end up having to do a complete brain wipe, they can then have a
problem because the info the registration code was based on is changed.
This leaves them unable to use the package that they properly paid for (or
more correctly, the license they properly paid for).

Now, if it were me, and I was ditching the whole Newt arena, I'd at least
try to provide my loyal customers with a means of regenerating registration
codes in some way. But then that's just me.
