It seems tome the only solution is to do what I did in order to definitely
clear this memory area where the system patch is residing:
I took out the original ROM-board and put in a ROM-board with a diferent
ROM-version (e.g. german ROM)and powered up the Newt. The boot process
following takes remarkeably longer (I already feared that I ripped my Newt),
but the internal memory will be cleared COMPLETELY.
After that I re-inserted the original ROM-board again and had a fresh Newt
without any system patch and nicely clean memory.
From that step you can install the required system patch again, restore your
data and everything should be fine.
