Paul,
the way you describe it, my educated guess would be that the
display is defective. You might want to try the following in
the
following order:
1) Play with the contrast setting
2) Take the Newton apart, take the display ribbon cable from
its
connector, clean it and put it back. See the hardware
section of
the site below for info on how to disassemble a MP130.
If this doesn't help, it is probably the display. If you
feel up to replacing
it yourself, I could send you a replacement, or you could
send me the
130 and I could have a look at it so you know for sure what
the problem
is. As usual looking is free for NTLK list members.
If it is in fact the display, I could replace it with a new
one for a small fee.
