With the attention being given to www.apple.com/switch and
the unix community's vocal thoughts on people moving from a broad range of
*nix systems to OS X:
It would be interesting to see some of the Newton sites you guys offer to
host a Newton "Switch" page. New NewtonTalk subscribers who threw away
their Palm and WinCE handhelds in favor of a 2x00 or eMate could leave
some feedback and photo (maybe digitized by the webmaster on a Newton
screen for effect*) about what appealed to them. There were be a mainpage
on why one should keep the Newt dream alive, summing up all we can do in
one PDA that the others can't (the "reasons to switch"). Of course there
could also be testimonies by the hardcore addicts on their affection for
the little bugger too off to the side. It would be good for the community
and perhaps attractive to potential newcomers to feel included.
* - It could be a white page with scaled Newtons in a transparent table.
You'd have a small eMate or OMP (original Apple promotional images) with a
digitized photo of the owner on the screen, meaning that's the model they
own. Then you click on it and have a full page of info. Maybe a QT audio
clip.
