[NTLK] newton external modem speed?

hi- just wondering if anyone can tell me the speed of the external newton
modem... I've read it's 2400/9600, but am wondering whether you can
connect it at 9600 for net stuff. I'm thinking maybe if it will connect
at 9600, I could use one for my emate.... on that note, anyone have one
they want to sell?
