Sorry to say, you would actually need to solder each of those little pins..
Not something you'll be wanting to do if you're not a veteran electronics
hack, I'd think.
I think that the metallic paste you mention is actually solder.. that's how
these things are normally done, though I have of course not removed my
interconnect connector to check!
If you can come up with a SER-01 (or wait for the next batch) that would
probably be your way to go.
