[NTLK] SimpleMail Options

I've just begun using SimpleMail again after leaving it installed but idle for a few years.

Does anyone know the how or why behind the configuration option that directs where to "put away" text email? I noticed that I now have the option to put it into BinHex - which was recently added to my long list of applications. Why is it there?
