Another "gotcha" is that while normally NewtSync will show its IP
address at the bottom of the window, sometimes it says "listening on
localhost." It does this when you're using an Ethernet cable to connect
the Newton to the Mac, without using a hub or other powered device in
between. This is because of a known issue, one which I haven't yet
implemented a good solution for.

See, the Newton doesn't power up the Ethernet card until you try to
connect to something. And the Mac will ignore any network ports that
aren't connected to a "live" device. So you start up NewtSync on the
Mac first (because it's the one that's listening connections on TCP/IP)
and it looks at the system's IP addresses and doesn't find any.

The workaround is to click Connect on the Newton first, and when it
powers up the card to connect to the network, quickly click Synchronize
on the Mac. Get the timing just right and it'll work. :-)
