You know that it very easy to alter this in OS X, just press Command-I
(get info) and select
'Open With'
Click on the pull-down menu and select the application you want
associated with the file.

True, but if you backup and export regularly not such a big deal, until
now I've never needed synching so I never bothered, now that I do I
discover that NewtSync doesn't work for me and I would love to gave a
synch with iCal :-(
