There are always basic trouble shooting ideas to do first before putting
under the knife. You did the rest, that's one. If you have any PCMCIA
cards, remove them. Third, try booting with the stylus held about 1/2
inch from the edge of the screen. I have never done this but I keep
seeing it posted, I guess it lets you restart with packages frozen
(disabled).
If this does not work? The wisdom if the list :) OR maybe the soldered
connections to the motherboard are cracked. This might explain the
previous post of the "flacky" switch, a cracked solder point would
create a weak connection.

Subject: [NTLK] MP2K power switch repair
Anyone know how to tell if a power switch has gone bad? I posted some
time
back here (and at Newted) about a perfectly good MP2K which seemingly
has a
bad power switch (I can turn it on via the reset button, but can't turn
it
off unless I remove the battery pack).
Frank Gruendel's MP2000 disassembly/reassembly page is great, but if
anyone
can give me pointers on troubleshooting the power switch, before I
attempt
to open the unit, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
D
