Actually,

The phone used in Matrix is a special made 8110i (GSM900), 8148
(GSM1800) which had a spring for the sliding door. I don't know the
model number for US markets. The phone 7110, 7160 Robert described does
not need the PCMCIA card as it has a built-in modem.
