Pretty much anything that flips open with a display on one flap and a
computer on the other is going to have a flexible cable, which may break due
to flexing back and forth. The eMate however was a whole different issue
with the springs being improperly lubricated, causing the spring to buckle
and come loose, combined with the display cable running right next to it.
I own an older Digital laptop that has a display that sometimes
flashes/futzes out depending on the angle of the screen and the phase of the
moon. This is likely because the cable is about to break or because a
connector on one end of the cable has come loose.
