I do all my sync'ing to my Macs, but there was also a post from someone
perhaps a year? ago now, detailing how to set your PC Serial port settings
(buffering etc) so that you could connect via serial port without needing
the slowdown.

I didn't save it 'cos I don't connect that way for myself, and XPort works
for my wife's work PC without needing slowdown, so I just set her up with
that.

It might be worth digging and checking the details and adding it to the
FAQ. I can't test it thoroughly at home since my only Windows machine at
home is outclassed in MHz by a factor of 10, compared to new machines :)
(not counting processor DISimprovements which subtract a little from the
current performance (last I read) :)

But IIRC the buffering and port changes mentioned, did make sense.
