Thinking about this some more, it seems that a Linux port to Newton
hardware and a Newton emulator both face the same problem but from
different perspectives -- proprietary hardware.
It also seems that a complete emulator should be capable of running a
Linux port if it can run the NOS.
OTOH, Martin Wilson pointed out a few weeks ago that a more expedient
approach to emulation is to override the NOS device drivers rather than
try to support them. In order to support them (and Linux) under emulation
we would have to reverse engineer the hardware to some extent. The results
would be of immense help to both a Linux port and an emulator.
Is this feasible? Or even possible?
