Harlan,

I don't get it either. I have only been using the router for a couple
of months, and the Newton for a couple of weeks. So a lot of this stuff
in new to me.

My only thought is that I am using Hiroshi's WavLAN driver with the
Proxim card in the Newton. Maybe something in the codes he wrote tell
the router that the card is an Apple branded card.

I can not test my theory because the other wireless card I own will not
work in either the Newton or the 3400. Perhaps someone else on the list
who is using Hiroshi's driver can take a look inside their router and
see how their wireless card is identified.

The link Darrell posted will tell them <http://coffer.com/mac_find/>

Or, maybe Hiroshi can shed some light on this mystery.

It could be some "default thing" in my router. I had specifically
assigned the original number to a specific laptop in our setup. Maybe I
will email Asante and ask.

Nancy
