Since there was 'no' R&D spending, all $teve J. had to do was pass the
orders onto Sharp to produce units until sales dropped to an unsustainable
level(check Ed K.'s post last week), but $teve won't disclose the actual
numbers sold or even the 'balance(profit/loss)sheet for Newton Group.
Something to hide when the data is supposed to available to shareholders.
However the opening numbers for Newton Inc. might be available somewhere.
The only 'de-incision' made in 1997 was to 'cut' Sculley's legacy. But the
decision to 'reborn' the Original Mac in colorful and translucent plastic
using mostly Powerbook parts for MLB and size-efficient CRT was a good
gamble, but the low-price point really helped loyal and new users to buy a
Mac.
