Currently there is no way of using either Bluetooth or IrDA with a
Newton and many of the more recent phones have only that to connect...
IrDA might be a remote possibility however since at least some stuff is
there. I was recently looking into that and it doesn't seem impossible.
I was able to at least have an IrDA connection but could not send
anything, the phone would crash (to be more technical: it was a IrCOMM
connection in a very early state without any of the necessary further
handshaking).

But it is absolutely frustrating to see that all other PDAs have that
functionality out of the box... especially the Zaurus with Linux on it
is very tempting because it would make implementing any missing parts
much easier. And from my point of view, it is always simpler to
implement a missing application or improve the GUI than implement a
missing device driver for a totally undocumented device.
