Learning to touch-type will help you with your Newton keyboards more
than the USB light will ... so of the two solutions, I would suggest
the touch-type one.
In an effort to facilitate learning to touch-type, try visualizing as
many keys as you can before dropping off to sleep. Eventually you'll
soon know where a lot of them are. Once that happens, try typing with
your eyes closed.
No, seriously. I do it all the time (though this isn't something you
want to do at work).
