If you don't have the dongle with switches that lets you select the
proper resolution, another work around is to hook up the blurrier Apple
monitor, boot with that attached (OS9), when you are fully booted, go
to the monitors control panel and set the resolution to a Lowest common
denominator (640*480) and then when you reboot with the sony attached
reset the monitor to the highest res that the monitor supports...
This problem/issue is caused because at boot, the mac looks at the
monitor connector and tries to decide what type of monitor you have and
what options/res are available... If the monitor doesn't give proper
sense key info, then the mac may get confused and try to use a
resolution that is too high (or too low) for the currently connected
display...
