I'm not sure if the procedure has been laid out somewhere, but if you do a
little search on 'wavelan' or 'wireless' or 'dwl-650' in the NewtonTalk
archive, I'm sure you'll find plenty of messages from various people that
got it to work. You're likely to find some people with a DWL-650 that
couldn't get it to work. Apparently, the first revisions only of the DWL-650
did work with the Wavelan driver. Dlink did change something with later
revisions and those DWL-650 didn't work anymore. Hopefully, you have a first
revision.
As far as T-Mobile is concerned, I did the signup at a Starbucks this week.
I'm not sure how it works, though, because there were no provision to enter
my user ID and password. I followed the instructions, launched my web
browser (all of this on my PowerBooks, didn't try my Newton because I didn't
have my wireless card with me), then logged in onto their web server, and
then I was in. I'm guessing that they get your IP from the web browser once
you're logged in and then they'll give you full access to the Internet. So,
I'd be tempted to say that this won't work on a Newton, due to a lack of a
web browser supporting javascript. I even had to switch from Safari, the new
browser from Apple for OS X, to IE because I was getting errors in Safari,
which is still a beta. You can try, but I'm not sure it will work.
