This is correct. The edge is pressing especially if the Newton is in portrait
mode and you write with your right hand. You can easily prove this by
drawing a vertical line while pressing on the right side of the case, most
times the pen position will jump to the left if you do.

Congratulations. But this does not always work. When I fixed Victor's 2100
(which hopefully will arrive soon...), I also did the removal thing. This helped
to a certain degree, but it didn't make the jaggies disappear. They disappeared
when I replaced the display AND the upper part of the case. Unfortunately,
after I put the other display in, I noticed the problem with the pen losing its
alignment when drawing close to the Newton logo. Since this problem hadn't
been there before I replaced the display, I replaced the main logic board, too...
