Ray,

A Teflon-based grease is ideal and is usually found in model shops in small
quantities.
You can use automotive greases like SM.
> Do I have to desolder the board to access the hinges (only the left hinge
> needs the washer fix) for greasing?
Yes.
> Can I put grease in there without taking it apart?
No. It's far better to strip the hinge completely, clean off all the old
grease and dirt and have a solution that will last for years.
