Il me semble que le 27/07/03 à 14:22 -0700, Marcel Flores nous racontait:
>Is it possible to connect to My MP 2000 with an ethernet crossover
>cable to my mac (with no router or anything) I have a 3Com 3CXE589E

>If so, how would I go about setting it up? Thanks.
I guess you have all the packages on the Newton.
The issue is MacOS X. The Ethernet interface of the Mac will be down
until the Newton's interface is up.
However, the browser on the Newton should let you achieve what you want.
Run it by tapping the Dock icon with TCP/IP, it will fire up the
Newton's Ethernet card and the Mac will see something on the other
side.
You need a compatible Network setting on each side. The easiest is to
tell the Mac to share its internet access and tell the Newton to
configure itself via DHCP. I thought this didn't work from various
reports but I tried this week and it worked without a glitch. You can
also assign an IP in the same subnet to both machines.
Still, unless you need AppleTalk on another interface with your Mac,
I would suggest going AppleTalk instead of TCP/IP. Make sure the
Newton's AppleTalk is set on your Ethernet card (I don't think 3Com
have a card slip, so go to Prefs then select AppleTalk, Ethernet) and
your Mac has AppleTalk enabled on its Ethernet interface. AppleTalk
avoids the manual settings.
Fire Dock on the Newton, choose other computer, fire Escale and
normally your Mac will appear in the AppleTalk browser on the Newton.
If you see that the light no longer blinks, close the AppleTalk
browser on your Newton and open it again.
