[NTLK] ethernet docking

OK, say I want to dock my emate via appletalk(ethernet) I have the internet
setup for my house, I bring up the dock window, select connect via
appletalk, on connect to I select some other computer. and it starts to
look. Should it not bring up a window where the network card gets
initialized? Mine brings up a window saying looking then blah... it finds
nothing and the light never comes on, on the network card. Am I missing
something?
