Hello everybody, I'm a new subscriber to this list and a long time
Newton fan. I have a Palm now and I do wish Apple brought it back.
Here's a question for everyone:
The other day I pulled out my old Message Pad 120, which had laid dead
for some five or six years after its rechargable battery died and it
couldn't get any power from the AC adaptor. It was already getting out
of date so I set it aside, intending to look at it when I had a chance.
I pulled it out and put four AA batteries in it to show it off to some
friends who were frustrated by the way their Palms worked, to show how
a good PDA should function. Little to my surprise, when I started it
up, it still had my information on it - after five years being
powerless! (The backup battery is completely dead as well. Anyone
remember what kind of battery it takes, so I can get a new one from
Radioshack?)
I also had it locked to a PIN number way back then, and I have no
memory at all what I used. I'd rather not reset it, because some of the
information on it I didn't have elsewhere and it'd be nice to see what
all I had there. Anyone have any ideas how to break into a Newton when
you don't remember the PIN?
A friend of mine did have two suggestions that may work, but they're a
little drastic.
Regards,
Rich
