This one is an easy one: on the Mac, files have a hidden information called
the file type and the file creator. That's the information that the Finder
uses when you double-click a file to open the application that created that
file. In your case, the files that you have downloaded have lost this
information. Use a program called "PackType" to restore the information
simply by dragging and dropping those files onto the application and all
should be well...
