[NTLK] Promoting NTLK, post-Ebay bidding

A question that cannot be accurately answered is

How many Newton owners DON'T know about NTLK?

So...I've been wondering about the value and feasibility of sending a welcome email to winning Newt bidders on Ebay--to let them know about NTLK.

If the consensus is affirmative, that is, there's general agreement that promoting NTLK to Ebay bidders is a Good Thing, can a process be automated to harvest an Ebay Newton buyer's email address? I can't figure out if it can be done. Moreover, what about *any* Ebay bidder, not just the winning bidder? That someone is bidding on a Newt says something about that person's mindset, and may appreciate the links, whether they score a Newt or not.

Then, once an auction closes with a confirmed winning bid, a simple script could fire off a welcome email informing the buyer of the FAQ, the discussion group, unna, etc. We'd continue to grow through active promotion.

Privacy issues? Probably needs to be hashed out.

Feasibility? Well, the floor is open for brainstorming. I'm curious what some of you creative folks can conjure up.

Flame away. ;-)
