You might try putting on the debug feature of SimpleMail and get some
more information. It helped me troubleshoot my SimpleMail.

I/O Box->'i' icon->SimpleMail Prefs->Page->Debug->Capture "The usual
suspects, Account information, All IO" and Direct to "Notepad"
