I too have tried on several occasions to back up my Pretec 32MB linear flash card when connected to either my Powerbook G3 500 with keyspan in OS 9.2 or my Powerbook 1400c with regular serial connection. I don't have much more than 12mb of data on it and it works for a while (backs up all of internal store and the first few external packages) then seems to choke. I will try the idea of ethernet cable to see if that makes any difference. Keyspan works well with downloading programs but not so well uploading them. Also I think serial connection is just too slow. I have gotten ethernet to work with the newton but it means changing all my network settings in Mac OS 10. I guess I could use an alternate location but our airport base station seems rather picky.
