Hi Newtoneers,
I gave NewTen a new coat of paint, and updated it to version 1.2. (For
those of you who aren't familiar, NewTen is a Mac OS X native package
installer for serially-connected Newtons.)
Here's the (new!) info & download page:
http://www.stevenf.com/newten/
Quick summary of changes:
- Streamlined user interface: moved the "re-scan" button up into the
menus, and made package installation a one-click process rather than
two-click. Status information has been moved to a sheet.
- For some serial adapters, a human-readable name is now presented.
IE; instead of "cu.USA28XP1.1" (or whatever), it now shows "KeySpan
TwinSerial 1". If your serial adapter does not show up with a
human-readable name, please let me know what adapter it is, and what it
shows up as.
- Help menu item now actually does something (it opens the readme)
- NewTen now remembers the last serial port you used, and (assuming
it's still attached) will re-select it automatically on subsequent
launches
- NewTen now lets you install packages with all-caps (.PKG) extensions.
- NewTen now remembers its window's position
Hope you like it! Email me if you have problems, or if you just want
to say hi.
Steven
