None of my two PCMCIA cards support caller ID. :-(

    hayes Optima 336+EZjack, model 5347US
    MegaHertz 28.8, model XJ1288

This program is very easy to do, but you'll have to leave the newton
powered on.

If you want to try if your modem supports it:

Launch EETerminal or PT100 and connect with your PCCard modem with the
serial tool, the speed doesn't matter.

type:

AT (You should get an OK, if you don't the connection is not well made)
ATSO?<Enter> ( That's letter O, not number 0, report auto-answer mode)
ATSO=4<Enter> (if it reports 0) (auto-answer on 4th ring)

Now, we are looking for a OK, one of these commands can trigger it:

AT#CID=1<Enter> (USR report CLID formatted), or
AT+VCID=1<Enter> (Conexant HxF), or
AT%CCID=1<Enter> (Hayes Optimas), or
AT#CC1<Enter> (older Cirrus, Motorola VoiceSurfr), or
AT*ID1<Enter> (getting desperate), If nothing reports OK, look for your
modem manual.

When you get the OK, call yourself from a cellular or have someone call
you.
You should receive a RING and, if your modem supports Caller ID, a few
numbers. If only receives RING's, then it doesn't work, or your company
hasn't activated the service.

Send me those numbers you receive and i'll try to do something.

Hi,
Is there a Newton software that will give Caller ID info in big text --
and lighting up the LCD screen, too -- when the PDA or eMate are hooked
up to a phoneline? It seems there must be.
It'd be great if it gave the same name as in the Addressbook, much like
a cell phone identifies incomers by its phonebook ID.
If no such thing exists, then this is a good *developer* idea anyone is
welcome to take and run with. I'd pay $10 for the .Pkg
