The number one killer of rechargeable batteries is
heat. Charging a battery generates heat. All
rechargeables have a finite number of charges in them.
NiCads, 1000+, NiMH, <1000, Lion <500 (note, these
numbers are a basis, not the rule...ymmv)

Armed with this knowledge, if you trickle charge a
battery only when it is dead, the battery will last
longer than one that is fast charged on a regular
basis.
