For those that might be interested in the resolution of my problem, I did
open my Newton and right there, I saw what was the problem: both the red and
black wires that connect the 2 springs to the motherboard were unsoldered
from the motherboard! I soldered them back and everything was working again.
That means that since I switched to that unit, I was not recharging my
battery packs and after I did the rotation of my 3 battery packs, I realized
that the Newton was not charging anymore.
What I can't explain is how those 2 wires were disconnected from the
motherboard. This unit was serviced by Apple and I put it on the shelf as my
backup unit until I broke the screen on the MP2100 I was using. I've never
opened it so I can't explain this, except that sometimes, technicians will
screw up...
