No, the soups can exist on more than one store simultaneously, and all the bits of them from the various locations are joined together before the application sees them.
Don't try to move ther soup itself. Instead open the application that owns the soup, select all the entries in it that are stored on the internal store, then file them on the destination store. You'll end up with an empty soup on the internal store (which can probably be deleted).
